Alan Banov Defense Attorney

An employment and labor lawyer, Alan Banov has been defending the rights of working people for over 40 years. Mr. Banov graduated with honors from the George Washington University National Law Center, then served for eight years as an attorney in the Office of General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board, including five years with the Appellate Court Branch. In 1980 Mr. Banov started his own practice. He has represented thousands of employees in discrimination, civil service, overtime and other wage cases, adverse action cases in the federal and local governments, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, non-competition, and breach of contract cases. He has also mediated dozens of cases, not just employment cases, but also civil cases of various types. He is rated A.V. Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell.

Mr. Banov is also a long-time active Democrat. A former chair of the District 18 Democratic Caucus in Montgomery County, in 2002 he was elected as an at-large member of the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee. In 2006 he was re-elected to the MCDCC and was elected Vice-Chair by his MCDCC colleagues. In 2014 he was elected to a fourth term on the MCDCC

Shirley Epps, Secretary

Ms. Epps has been Secretary for Alan Banov & Associates since May 1990.

She was born in Harriston, MS, and attended Jefferson County High School and Alcorn State University.
Prior to joining Alan Banov & Associates, she worked in numerous jobs, including Hartford Insurance Company in Memphis, TN, American Association for the Advancement of Service, Washington, D.C., National Legal Aid & Defender Association, Washington, D.C., and The National Social Science & Law Center, Washington, D.C. She performed a wide range of administrative duties and she attended annual conferences in New Orleans, San Diego, and Kansas City as a national representative for the National Legal Aid & Defender Association.

Elizabeth Jaramillo, Bookkeeper
Mrs. Jaramillo was born in Punto Fijo, Venezuela, to Dutch parents who immigrated to Venezuela in 1949, after WWII. During her early childhood and teenage years she was raised back and forth in Caracas, Venezuela, and Alkmaar, Holland.

She moved to the US in 1972 and has worked for Alan Banov and Associates since 1991. Mrs. Jaramillo speaks three languages fluently-English, Spanish, and Dutch. She handles billing, bookkeeping, and taxes for us.
